Brooks is an Ensign and a Shuttle Bay controller on the USS Orville. He oversees shuttlecraft docking on the ship.

Brooks supervises the docking and departure of SCV-183-2, a shuttle from the USS Olympia, carrying a forensic archaeologist and an ancient artifact recovered from the planet Lopovius.
Brooks realizes that the archaeologist he allowed in the Olympia was Darulio. Lieutenant Alara Kitan arrives, too late to put the shuttle on hold. Brooks is aware that Darulio was the one with whom Commander Kelly Grayson had cheated on Captain Ed Mercer, identifying him as "the one with the stuff coming out of his head." When Kitan asked how he learned that detail, he reminded her that it was she who had told him about Darulio.
