In October 2419, after Captain Ed Mercer and First Officer Kelly Grayson were kidnapped by the Calivon, Acting Captain Alara Kitan requested permission to enter Calivon space for a rescue mission. Tucker refused and ordered her to return the USS Orville to Earth and to list Mercer and Grayson as lost in the line of duty.[2]
After Navigator John LaMarr was arrested on Sargus 4 in December 2419, Tucker denied Ed permission to extract him, citing the volatility and unpredictability of a 21st century-level society.[3]
When a Moclan refuge for females known as "The Sanctuary" petitioned the Planetary Union Council in 2421 for state sovereignty, Tucker attended closed-door deliberations with other admirals and Ed. Tucker opposed recognizing The Sanctuary, worried that if Moclus abandoned the Union for an alliance with the Krill, the Union would lose its war against the Kaylon.[4]

On August 4, 2018, director Jonathan Frakes revealed that actor Ron Canada would return to portray Admiral Tucker for Season 2.[5]
